This virus has two main clades: Clade I (Congo Basin) and Clade II (West African). Mpox transmission can occur through contact with blood and bodily fluids, skin lesions, contaminated materials from infected patients, infected animals, and also via sexual contact. Furthermore, maternal transmission to the fetus has been reported.<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\">The incubation period for monkeypox disease typically ranges from 6 to 13 days, with variations from 5 to 21 days. Initial symptoms often include fever and chills, headache, weakness and fatigue, lymphadenopathy, back pain, and muscle aches. Typically, 1 to 3 days after the onset of initial symptoms, skin lesions appear and spread from the face to other parts of the body, including the palms of the hands and soles of the feet. These lesions generally heal within 2 to 4 weeks.<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\">The severity of monkeypox (Mpox) disease can range from mild to severe; more severe cases are observed more frequently in children, pregnant women, and individuals with compromised immune systems. The mortality rate of the disease varies depending on the viral clade, with Clade I being associated with a higher mortality rate (approximately 10%).
