Description

Myco-Prep Kit

Mycobacteria belong to the Mycobacteriaceae family and are the causative agents of important diseases such as tuberculosis. This kit is used for preparing sputum samples for the diagnosis of mycobacteria in Acid-Fast Bacilli (AFB) staining or TB Fluorochrome staining, culture, nucleic acid testing, and other related tests. By homogenizing and decontaminating the sample without altering the nature of the mycobacteria, this kit simultaneously increases the concentration and purity of the sample.

Respiratory samples require digestion, decontamination, neutralization, and concentration. For this purpose, the present method uses a mucolytic agent to convert the viscous sputum sample into a liquid sample. The mucolytic agent liquefies the sputum sample and releases the mycobacteria, while normal flora are damaged by the decontamination solution and their growth is inhibited to reduce interference with tests. The neutralization step prevents further activity of the decontamination agent, protecting mycobacterial species from damage and preventing false-negative results.

The AP-Myco-Prep Kit from ap-rad is designed and manufactured to improve the diagnostic process and specifically isolate mycobacteria from patient sputum samples.
