Description

Atypical CAP Multiplex Real Time PCR Kit | Atypical CAP Multiplex Real Time PCR Detection Kit

Pneumonia is a lung infection that causes inflammation in the air sacs of the lungs. Community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) is a type of this disease that occurs in non-hospital settings and is divided into two categories: Typical and Atypical.

In the Atypical CAP group, three main bacteria are responsible for the infection:

Mycoplasma pneumoniae, Chlamydia pneumoniae, and Legionella pneumophila.

  • Mycoplasma pneumoniae (from the Mycoplasmataceae family) often causes mild pneumonia or walking pneumonia. In children, symptoms such as diarrhea, vomiting, and wheezing may also be observed.

  • Chlamydia pneumoniae (from the Chlamydiaceae family) causes lower respiratory tract infections including pneumonia and bronchitis and is sometimes associated with laryngitis.

  • Legionella pneumophila (from the Legionellaceae family) causes Legionnaires’ disease, which is a type of severe pneumonia and, if left untreated, may lead to respiratory failure or death.

These DNA bacteria are among the most important respiratory pathogens and are most commonly observed in children, the elderly, and immunocompromised individuals.

Although infection with these bacteria typically begins with mild symptoms such as fever, cough, sore throat, fatigue, and headache, in severe cases it can lead to advanced pneumonia.

The Atypical CAP Multiplex Real Time PCR Kit from ap-rad, utilizing multiplex Real-Time PCR technology, is designed and manufactured for accurate detection and simultaneous differentiation of the three above-mentioned bacteria.

This kit, with high sensitivity and specificity, is an efficient tool for rapid identification of atypical pneumonia molecular agents in clinical samples.
