Description

Measles Virus Detection rRT-PCR Kit | Measles Virus Detection rRT-PCR Kit

Measles virus is an enveloped virus with single-stranded RNA that causes measles. This virus has a single serotype and belongs to the Morbillivirus genus within the Paramyxoviridae family.

Measles Virus

Transmission Routes

Measles is one of the most contagious diseases known worldwide, transmitted through contact with nasal or throat secretions of an infected person (via coughing or sneezing) or by breathing air where an infected person has been present. The measles virus can remain active and contagious in the air or on contaminated surfaces for up to two hours.

Symptoms

Early symptoms typically last 4 to 7 days and include runny nose, cough, red and watery eyes, and small white spots inside the cheeks. Skin rash usually appears 7 to 18 days after exposure to the virus, first appearing on the face and neck and spreading to other parts of the body, including the hands and feet, over approximately three days. The rash typically lasts 5 to 6 days and then fades. Disease complications are most often observed in children under five years old and adults over 30.

Measles Virus Diagnosis

The measles virus IgM antibody test is recognized as the gold standard diagnostic method, but RT-PCR testing is used as a confirmatory test for measles diagnosis. Real-Time RT-PCR tests have the highest sensitivity for diagnosing measles in affected individuals.

The Measles Virus Detection rRT-PCR Kit from ap-rad is designed for the detection and differentiation of the measles virus using a one-step Real-Time PCR technique, aiming to improve public health and accelerate virus identification to prevent its transmission to vulnerable individuals.
