Description

Bordetella Molecular Detection Kit (Bordetella Real-Time PCR Kit)

Bordetella are Gram-negative bacteria with circular double-stranded DNA, belonging to the Alcaligenaceae family. Among the various species of this genus, two species, Bordetella pertussis and Bordetella parapertussis, cause Whooping Cough (Pertussis) in humans.

Transmission of these bacteria occurs through person-to-person contact. Bordetella attaches to the cilia of the upper respiratory tract and causes inflammation and destruction of respiratory tissues by releasing bacterial toxins.

Whooping cough typically consists of three stages:

  1. Catarrhal stage: Cold-like symptoms including runny nose, mild fever, and mild cough.

  2. Paroxysmal stage: Severe and recurrent coughing fits accompanied by extreme fatigue and post-tussive vomiting.

  3. Convalescent stage: Gradual reduction of symptoms.

Symptoms caused by Bordetella parapertussis are similar to whooping cough but milder. Typically, initial symptoms appear 7 to 10 days after infection, and the infected individual can remain contagious for up to three weeks after cough onset. Symptom duration in children is usually between 4 to 8 weeks.

Mortality from Bordetella infections mainly depends on disease severity and patient age, with the highest risk of death associated with Bordetella pertussis in infants and young children.

Introduction of Bordetella Real-Time PCR Kit

ap-rad, relying on Real-Time PCR technology and specialized knowledge in molecular diagnostics, has designed and manufactured the Bordetella Real-Time PCR Kit.

This kit has the capability for rapid, accurate, and differential detection of Bordetella species including:

Bordetella species, Bordetella pertussis, and Bordetella parapertussis.

The Bordetella Real-Time PCR Kit is an ideal choice for molecular diagnostic laboratories, public health centers, and epidemiological research.
