Description

Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV) Detection Kit / EBV Real Time PCR Kit

Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV) is an important member of the Herpesviridae family and is a double-stranded DNA virus. It holds particular clinical significance due to its ability to establish latent and persistent infections in the human body. After entering the body, EBV can remain in infected cells for years, establishing a latent infection without manifesting specific symptoms. This characteristic, especially in children, can influence the development of the immune system.

EBV is one of the most common human viruses worldwide, with approximately 90 to 95 percent of adults having antibodies against this virus, indicating prior exposure. The clinical manifestations of primary EBV infection are highly variable and typically appear in adolescents and young adults as sore throat, fever, lymphadenopathy, splenomegaly, and acute infectious mononucleosis.

In addition to causing acute infections, EBV was the first virus recognized to be associated with the development of malignancy in humans. The association of this virus with diseases such as non-Hodgkin lymphoma, Burkitt lymphoma, nasopharyngeal carcinoma, and other malignancies has been demonstrated in numerous studies, underscoring the importance of accurate and early detection.

For the specific detection of EBV, the use of advanced molecular techniques such as Real-Time PCR has been accepted as the gold standard in modern laboratories. This method, with its high sensitivity and accuracy, enables the detection of the viral genome even at very low levels.

ap-rad, utilizing precise primer and probe design, has developed the EBV Real-Time PCR Kit. This kit is designed for the rapid, sensitive, and specific detection of EBV and its differentiation from other similar viruses, making it a reliable option for diagnostic laboratories and healthcare centers.
