Description

MERS/COVID-19/FLU Virus rRT-PCR Kit

MERS-CoV, SARS-CoV-2, Influenza A, Influenza B

MERS-CoV, SARS-CoV-2, Influenza A, and Influenza B are RNA respiratory viruses that cause infections in the upper and lower respiratory tract, particularly in children, the elderly, and immunocompromised individuals. Infection with these viruses is associated with symptoms similar to the common cold. However, in some cases, the infection progresses to a more severe phase, causing bronchitis, bronchiolitis, and pneumonia in affected individuals.

MERS Virus

MERS-CoV (family Coronaviridae) causes Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS). This pathogen is a zoonotic virus and can be transmitted from camels to humans through direct physical contact.

MERS Symptoms

MERS symptoms typically appear 5 to 6 days after exposure, but this period can range from 2 to 14 days. Infected individuals may experience a range of mild or asymptomatic cases, and in some instances, acute respiratory illness and death. Common clinical manifestations include fever, cough, and shortness of breath. Pneumonia and gastrointestinal symptoms are also common, although not observed in all cases.

SARS-CoV-2 Virus

SARS-CoV-2 (family Coronaviridae) is the causative agent of COVID-19.

Symptoms:

In most people, infection presents with mild symptoms similar to influenza. However, a wide spectrum of symptoms has been reported, ranging from mild to moderate (mild symptoms to mild pneumonia), severe illness (shortness of breath, hypoxia), lung involvement, and critical cases (respiratory failure, shock, or multi-organ dysfunction).

Influenza A and B Viruses

Influenza A and Influenza B (family Orthomyxoviridae) are responsible for most viral infections in the lower respiratory tract. Given that the elderly and vulnerable individuals are at higher risk of severe illness and complications such as pneumonia, Influenza A and B are significant causes of mortality worldwide.

Symptoms:

The disease presents with symptoms such as fever, chills, cough, sore throat, nasal congestion and runny nose, muscle aches, headache, and loss of appetite. Rapid detection and differentiation of these viruses can be important for treatment approaches and controlling their spread.

The MERS/COVID-19/FLU Virus rRT-PCR Kit from ap-rad is designed and manufactured for the detection and differentiation of MERS-CoV, SARS-CoV-2, Influenza A, and Influenza B viruses.
