Description

Monkeypox Virus Detection Kit | Monkeypox Multiplex Real-Time PCR Kit

The Monkeypox Multiplex Real-Time PCR Kit, developed by Amir Peyvand Research and Development (AP-RAD) with the aim of enhancing public health, accelerating patient identification and treatment, and preventing widespread dissemination of the disease, is designed to detect the monkeypox virus (Mpox generic) and simultaneously differentiate viral clades using Real-Time PCR.

The Monkeypox virus (Mpox), belonging to the Orthopoxvirus genus and the Poxviridae family, is an enveloped virus with a double-stranded linear DNA genome, responsible for causing monkeypox disease in humans and animals. This virus has two main clades: Clade I (Congo Basin) and Clade II (West African). Mpox transmission can occur through contact with blood and bodily fluids, skin lesions, contaminated materials from infected patients, infected animals, and also via sexual contact. Furthermore, maternal transmission to the fetus has been reported.

The incubation period for monkeypox disease typically ranges from 6 to 13 days, with variations from 5 to 21 days. Initial symptoms often include fever and chills, headache, weakness and fatigue, lymphadenopathy, back pain, and muscle aches. Typically, 1 to 3 days after the onset of initial symptoms, skin lesions appear and spread from the face to other parts of the body, including the palms of the hands and soles of the feet. These lesions generally heal within 2 to 4 weeks.

The severity of monkeypox (Mpox) disease can range from mild to severe; more severe cases are observed more frequently in children, pregnant women, and individuals with compromised immune systems. The mortality rate of the disease varies depending on the viral clade, with Clade I being associated with a higher mortality rate (approximately 10%). In recent years, widespread outbreaks of monkeypox have been reported, and the spread of Clades I and II—particularly Clade I—has increased the concern of global health organizations.

Given the importance of early diagnosis, the identification of the monkeypox virus genome through Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) plays a key role in effective treatment and controlling disease outbreaks. In this regard, the Monkeypox Virus Detection Kit | Monkeypox Multiplex Real-Time PCR from Amir Peyvand Research and Development (AP-RAD) provides a precise, sensitive, and specific tool for detecting and differentiating monkeypox virus clades in humans.
