Amir Peyvand Research and Development Company (AP‑RAD) has developed the MTC and NTM Multiplex PCR Kit (Real‑time) with the aim of providing rapid, sensitive, and highly specific detection of Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex (MTC) and Nontuberculous Mycobacteria (NTM) in clinical specimens such as sputum, bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL), body fluids, and FFPE tissue samples from patients with symptoms or suspected mycobacterial infections.
This kit leverages advanced multiplex PCR technology, enabling accurate and fast identification of these bacteria.
Mycobacteria
Mycobacteria are responsible for various diseases, most notably tuberculosis (TB), which remains a major global health concern and contributes to significant mortality worldwide. In recent years, the global prevalence of nontuberculous mycobacteria (NTM) has markedly increased in both developed and developing countries.
Clinically, NTM infections are often indistinguishable from TB, creating diagnostic challenges and complicating treatment—especially in patients undergoing long‑term therapy for pulmonary TB.
Because different mycobacterial species vary in pathogenicity and antibiotic susceptibility, early and accurate species‑level identification is essential for proper patient management and infection control. This need is even more critical in cases involving drug‑resistant infections.
