Description

Nocardia Real Time PCR Kit | Nocardia Detection Kit

Nocardia is a genus of gram-positive, rod-shaped bacteria from the family Nocardiaceae, belonging to the class Actinomycetia and the order Mycobacteriales. These bacteria possess linear double-stranded DNA and a cell wall containing mycolic acid; a structure that gives them high resistance to many antibiotics and enables them to cause chronic and progressive infections.

Nocardia bacteria are widely found in soil, water, and decomposing organic matter and are the causative agents of nocardiosis, a disease that primarily occurs in immunocompromised individuals. Transmission of these bacteria usually occurs through inhalation of contaminated dust or direct entry through wounds and skin abrasions. Depending on the site of involvement, nocardiosis can manifest in various forms including pulmonary nocardiosis (the most common form, with a clinical picture similar to tuberculosis or chronic pneumonia), cutaneous nocardiosis (which can also be observed in healthy individuals), and disseminated nocardiosis (with spread of infection from the lungs to organs such as the brain, liver, and kidneys).

Clinical symptoms of the disease include chronic cough, chest pain, fever, weight loss, and night sweats in pulmonary nocardiosis; local swelling, abscess formation, and draining sinuses in the cutaneous form; and headache, neurological disorders, and seizures in cases of central nervous system involvement. Without timely diagnosis and treatment, the disease can progress severely and chronically, potentially leading to death.

ap-rad, with the aim of rapid, sensitive, and specific detection of Nocardia bacteria and their differentiation from other bacteria in human samples, has designed and manufactured the Nocardia Real Time PCR Kit, which is an efficient tool for accurate diagnosis and clinical management of this infection.
