Parvovirus B19 Real Time PCR Kit | Parvovirus B19 Real Time PCR Detection Kit
Parvovirus B19, belonging to the genus Erythroparvovirus and the family Parvoviridae, is a single-stranded linear DNA virus that causes Parvovirus B19 infection in humans, particularly in children and adults. This virus is highly contagious and is transmitted through respiratory secretions, saliva, close contact with an infected person, blood transfusion and blood products, as well as from mother to fetus.
Parvovirus B19 infection is often asymptomatic or accompanied by mild, cold-like symptoms including fever, headache, cough, and sore throat. The characteristic skin rash known as “slapped cheek,” also referred to as Fifth Disease or Erythema infectiosum, typically appears several days after the onset of initial symptoms and is one of the most common manifestations of the disease, especially in children. In adults, particularly women, joint pain, especially in the wrists, feet, and knees, is a common symptom and may last from 1 to 3 weeks and sometimes persist for several months.
Although Parvovirus B19 infection is often benign, the virus can lead to a severe reduction in red blood cells (anemia) by temporarily suppressing their production. In patients with blood disorders, immunodeficiency, and in rare cases in pregnant women, it can cause serious complications, including the risk of miscarriage.
ap-rad has designed and manufactured the Parvovirus B19 Real Time PCR Kit with the aim of rapid, sensitive, and specific detection of Parvovirus B19 and its differentiation from other human viruses.
