Description

STI Multiplex Real Time PCR Kit | Sexually Transmitted Infections Detection Kit

Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) are a group of diseases primarily transmitted through unprotected sexual contact with an infected individual. These infections can also spread through mother-to-child transmission during pregnancy or childbirth (neonatal infections), infected blood transfusion, and shared needle use. The causative agents of STIs include bacteria, parasites, and viruses.

These infections can cause numerous clinical consequences, including:

  • Pregnancy complications, pelvic pain, and pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) in women
  • Joint inflammation, eye inflammation, infertility, heart diseases, and certain types of cancers in both women and men

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the global prevalence of sexually transmitted infections is estimated at over one million new cases per day. Although these diseases are typically associated with symptoms such as abnormal and foul-smelling vaginal or penile discharge, pain during urination, genital itching or burning, and skin lesions, a significant proportion of infected individuals are asymptomatic and unaware of their infection.

For this reason, regular screening is recommended for sexually active individuals, with:

  • Average-risk individuals: at least once a year
  • High-risk individuals: every 3 to 6 months

Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI) Detection Kit

ap-rad has designed and manufactured the Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI) Detection Kit for rapid, sensitive, and specific simultaneous detection of common bacterial STI agents. This kit has the capability for simultaneous identification and differentiation of the following 6 common agents:

  • Ureaplasma parvum
  • Ureaplasma urealyticum
  • Chlamydia trachomatis
  • Neisseria gonorrhoeae
  • Mycoplasma hominis
  • Mycoplasma genitalium

This kit enables differential detection of these pathogens from other human bacteria with high accuracy and is an effective tool for screening, early diagnosis, and clinical management of sexually transmitted infections.
